Numerous Twitter reactions followed after a CNN graphic identified Ralph Northam as a Republican.
CNN is getting roasted for falsely labeling Virginia Governor Ralph Northam a Republican in its reporting of a racist scandal involving his 1984 yearbook.
According to Newsweek, the error occurred during the show "Anderson Cooper 360" Friday when a chyron mistakenly put a capital "R" by his name, signifying his affiliation with the Republican party.
Though CNN reportedly corrected the issue later, some have still accused the cable network of having a left-leaning bias.
In fact, one person pointedly said on social media, "CNN chyron guy... well he must be an R or we wouldn't be running this story."
And when someone else wrote "Facts matter??" another user replied, "Not at CNN.'"
Meanwhile, one tweeter joked that Northam's conservative appearance could have contributed to the error, saying in reference to a screenshot, "Based on that picture, I can see how they would have been confused."
Northam is being urged to step down by Republicans and fellow Democrats after he admitted to appearing in "a racially offensive photo on his medical school yearbook page that featured a picture of men in blackface and Ku Klux Klan robes."
