Jussie Smollett was hospitalized in Chicago on Tuesday, January 29, after an alleged homophobic & racially charged hate crime. It was first reported by website That Grape Juice.
Anthony Guglielmi, Chicago Police Department Chief Spokesman, just released details about the horrifying incident.
The CPD received a report overnight of a possible racially-charged assault and battery involving the
Empire actor. They say that two unknown offenders approached him and gained his attention by allegedly yelling out racial and homophobic slurs towards him while he was walking around.
The offenders then allegedly began to batter him with their hands about the face and poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim. One of the offenders allegedly wrapped a rope around his neck at some point during the incident before they both fled the scene.
Sources close to another website revealed further details about the alleged situation. They claim that Jussie went to a local Subway at 2AM and was harassed by two white men wearing ski masks when he walked out of his apartment. “Aren’t you that f****t
Empire n*****r?” one reportedly said to him.
The unknown chemical substance that the CPD Chief Spokesman initially reported was allegedly bleach, which was poured onto him mid-fight. The two men yelled “This is MAGA country” to him as they left.
Jussie then self-transported himself to Northwestern Hospital and is reportedly in good condition. Detectives are currently investigating the situation. The CPD is taking the matter very seriously and is treating it as a possible hate crime.
