Our starting point this afternoon--
President Moon Jae-in is holding a bilateral summit with the Emir of Qatar at South Korea's top office as we speak.
Let's get the latest from our correspondent -- Shin Se-min is on the line for us.
Se-min-- they met this morning,... but the two leaders are now having a working luncheon together, correct?
Right-- the leaders of South Korea and Qatar have gone into their lunch at the top office.
President Moon and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani,... the emir of Qatar,... met for about an hour this morning where they talked about ways to improve the comprehensive partnership between the two sides-- eventually leading to the signing of seven MOUs.
This envisioned cooperation is thought to be in the fields of smartfarming, agriculture, land transportation and smartgrid technology.
"I'm glad to see South Korea and Qatar, as valuable friends and comprehensive partners, have developed such friendly cooperation. Our bilateral trade volume stands at 17 billion U.S. dollars and many South Korean firms have entered the Qatari market. They've been contributing to infrastructure and economic development in Qatar."
President Moon added that Qatar is an abundant source of Liquefied Natural Gas for South Korea,... emphasizing the need for even more constructive and cooperative relations going forward.
And Se-min, we hear President Moon and the Emir have been discussing lighter topics as well?
Right-- the two leaders also discussed the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will be hosted in Qatar.
It will be the first time for the World Cup to take place in a Middle Eastern nation-- so the leaders are expected to have talked about their experiences on building upon that-- We must remember, of course, that South Korea co-hosted the 2002 World Cup with Japan.
Both leaders also discussed other sports cooperation as well.
But Jiyoon, we should know more specifics in the coming hours. I'll bring you updates throughout the day. Back to you.
