A mother in California was wounded when her four-year-old child fired a shotgun found in the backseat of their car, according to WRC. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Norwalk Station reported the incident on Wednesday morning. The Long Beach Post states that the woman was shot in the mid-body region and that the gun was fired through the back of her seat. There were also four other children and one adult in the car, none of whom were hurt. The mother was taken to an area hospital and, according to WRC, her condition has been upgraded from critical to fair. All four children have been placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.
