Cyntoia Brown has been granted clemency by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.
A Tennessee newspaper says she will be released from prison on August 7, 2019.
Brown, an alleged victim of childhood sex trafficking, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a man who solicited sex from her when she was 16-years-old.
“This decision comes after careful consideration of what is a tragic and complex case. Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16.
