Nakhwajang, art technique using hot iron, added to Korea's intangible cultural heritage list

An unique art technique has been added to the nation's list of intangible cultural assets.
The Cultural Heritage Administration designated Nakhwajang as Intangible Cultural Heritage number 136 on Monday.
The technique involves creating pictures using searing hot iron on materials such as paper, wood and leather, originated in Jeollabuk-do Province at around the start of the 19th century.
Nakhwajang... requires skilled craftsmanship to use the iron tools to create light and dark shades.
The heritage administration named craft master Kim Young-jo... as the holder of the technique.
