On 28th September 2018, the Supreme Court opened the doors to the Sabarimala shrine to women of all ages through it's historic verdict where it placed gender equality above faith. Ever since the verdict, it's been nothing but chaos. Those who've been playing the gender card having been trying for months to enter the sanctum sanctorum. Groups of women have tried over and over again to enter the temple. Police has been deployed, several attempts have been made, but none were successful. Until a few days back. When at 3:45 am, history was made as 2 women below 50 entered the Sabarimala shrine. Or was it really. In videos of this historic attempt, we see the women hurrying into the shrine, dressed in all black as police personnel accompanied them in the dead of the night. As news of the entry travelled, violent protests have erupted across Kerala. Devotees have been angered while reports come in of more women of the restricted age group, enter the temple. The devotees are right in demanding their faith be upheld and so are the women who see the ban on their entry as veiled patriarchy. Amidst this, an ugly political slugfest has ensued. BJP blaming the left and the left blaming the RSS but a solution is nowhere in sight.
