이총리, "4차산업혁명, 기술투자 필수... 올 R&D 예산 20조"
South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon has given the country's tech and construction industries his wishes for their best year yet... and he's vowed to do his utmost to help.
At New Year's events on Friday, the PM hailed the nation's tech sector for setting world records, especially with 5G technology.
He said investment in the 1990s put South Korea at the forefront of the third global industrial revolution, with the best ICT and infrastructure.
The PM said investment is essential to make the country's biotech sector and artificial inteligence do better, and promised spending worth 18 billion dollars for R&D.
During a later event with representatives of the construction industry, he pledged to implement 61-percent of the government's annual budget in the first half of this year to stimulate the overall economy, including construction.
He added that new inter-Korean cooperation on roads and railways will help bring them more projects.
