While the Gujarat government was under fire yesterday for issuing a diktat demanding students across the state to say Jai Hind or Jai Bharat while answering their roll calls, Kamal Nath's government in Madhya Pradesh has sparked another patriotism row today. The Madhya Pradesh Government has scrapped a 13 year old ritual of reciting Vande Mataram by government officials. Congress quickly went into damage control mode, saying that it respects the song and it was an inadvertent lapse as the new government is still settling in.
