President Trump on Monday defended his decision to withdraw troops from Syria.

In a series of Monday tweets, President Trump fired back at "failed generals" who are critical of his intention to withdraw US troops from Syria. He wrote: "If anybody but Donald Trump did what I did in Syria, which was an ISIS loaded mess when I became President, they would be a national hero. ISIS is mostly gone, we're slowly sending our troops back home to be with their families, while at the same time fighting ISIS remnants."  "I campaigned on getting out of Syria and other places," Trump further noted. "Now when I start getting out the Fake News Media, or some failed Generals who were unable to do the job before I arrived, like to complain about me & my tactics, which are working. Just doing what I said I was going to do!"  He added: "Except the results are FAR BETTER than I ever said they were going to be! I campaigned against the NEVER ENDING WARS, remember!"  Trump had initially announced a swift withdrawal from the country, which brought criticism from Senator Lindsey Graham and many others.  On Sunday, Graham seemed more at ease with how Trump will handle the exit.  CNBC reports that, after a meeting with the president, Graham told the press, "We still have some differences but I will tell you that the president is thinking long and hard about Syria - how to withdraw our forces but at the same time achieve our national security interests." "I think the president's very committed to making sure that when we leave Syria, that ISIS is completely defeated," Graham also noted.
