Trump Threatens to
Close Southern Border 'Entirely' President Donald Trump
made the threats via
Twitter early Friday morning. Democrats and some Republicans
have rejected Trump's demand
for $5 billion to fund a wall
on the U.S., Mexico border. The threat to close the border
comes as the U.S. enters
the seventh day of a partial
government shutdown. A second tweet from Trump
claimed that a border closure
would be a "profit making
operation" for the U.S. In 2017, a reported $558 billion
worth of goods crossed both
sides of the U.S., Mexico border. Trump concluded his Friday
series of tweets by writing
that the U.S. is shuttering aid to
three Central American countries.
