President Trump commented on the border wall Tuesday.
President Trump on Tuesday said that the federal workers being impacted by the partial government shutdown want the border wall. Following a Christmas teleconference with troops, he was asked by a reporter, "What's your message to the federal workers who had been impacted by the shutdown in some way?" "They understand what's happening," Trump replied. "They want border security. The people of this country want border security. It's not a question of me. I'd rather not be doing shutdowns."
"My family's in Florida, Palm Beach, and I just didn't want to go down and be there when other people are hurting, but it's gonna all work out," the president further noted. "But many of those workers have said to me, communicated, 'stay out until you get the funding for the wall.' These federal workers want the wall. The only one that doesn't want the wall are the Democrats." Trump also delivered a Christmas message via Twitter on Tuesday. "I hope everyone, even the Fake News Media, is having a great Christmas! Our Country is doing very well," he wrote. "We are securing our Borders, making great new Trade Deals, and bringing our Troops Back Home. We are finally putting America First. MERRY CHRISTMAS!"
