President Trump on Friday took a jab at Beto O'Rourke over 2020 speculation.
President Trump on Friday jabbed at Texas Representative Beto O'Rourke amid speculation about him running for president in 2020.
"Now, he's running for president," Trump joked at a press event. "I thought you were supposed to win before you run for president, no?"
The remark follows O'Rourke's recent meeting with former President Barack Obama in Washington, DC, according to the Washington Post.
"The meeting, which was held Nov. 16 at the former president's offices in Foggy Bottom, came as former Obama aides have encouraged the Democratic House member to run, seeing him as capable of the same kind of inspirational campaign that caught fire in the 2008 presidential election," the Post noted.
The news came days after a report that O'Rourke has shifted from a no to a maybe in regard to the 2020 presidential run. The Daily Beast reported that at a town hall in El Paso, he said that he and his wife would "think about what we can do next to contribute to the best of our ability to this community." O'Rourke received a great deal of national attention in his race to unseat Senator Ted Cruz. While his bid was unsuccessful, he far exceeded expectations.
