The Defense Security Support Command has unveiled its new emblem, flag and song on Tuesday morning,... pledging a fresh start.
The nation's military intel command also chose a black kite, a mid-sized bird of prey,...as the animal represents self-reformation.
The new security command,... led by Lieutenant General Nam Young-sin,... stresses that it has eradicated any illegality from the agency... and will strongly punish anyone caught breaking the rules,.. with penalties clearly codified in its work guidelines.

"The Defense Security Support Command has made efforts to revamp itself to be trusted by the public and the military,... by drastically eradicating any work that can be misunderstood or that does not have clear legal grounds, so that it can liquidate the authoritative and obsolete past way of working."

Back in August,... President Moon Jae-in ordered the disbandment of the military intel body's predecessor,... and the creation of the new command,... following revelations that the previous command drew up a contingency document on the possible imposition of martial law during the mass demonstrations last year.
The previous intel unit was also engaged in other illicit behaviors,... including alleged interference in domestic politics by monitoring civilians and manipulating online comments.
The newly-created intel command is now equipped with a human rights center, which guarantees that it will follow legal processes and give staff the right to raise objections to any illegal orders.
