An object placed in a margarine tub and forgotten has turned out to be a notable Ancient Roman statue, reports CNN. It was rediscovered by detectorist Len Jackman not long after he asked a farmer in Oxfordshire, England if he could search his land. The Times reports that the farmer granted him permission, but warned, "I don't think you will find much. Someone was here before and found only this." He then opened the margarine container and pulled out a figurine of the goddess Minerva and explained that the person who had found it about 15 years prior said it was a worthless copy. Jackman disagreed with that assessment and reached out to an expert, notes the Guardian. It was determined that the statue is a rare piece and was likely used on a household altar. The figurine was placed on display at the British Museum and a number of others have expressed interest in acquiring the piece.
