Activists gathered outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles Monday to mark International Human Rights Day.

The event was organised by independent organisation Union del Bario in support of immigrant rights.

On the same day, thousands marched towards the Mexican border as part of a demonstration to demand the US government to end deportation of illegal immigrants and pull military from border communities.
