Bishnupriya Ganguli, born into a musical family, learnt to sing from her parents Late Sri Ardhendu Ganguly and Late Smt Nilima Ganguly. After her initial training, she learnt Rabindrasangeet from “Geetabithi” singing school conducted by Late Sri Subinoy Roy and Late Sri Amar Lahiri in Kolkata. She has taken special training on Rabindrasangeet under the guidance of Late Smt Suchitra Mitra, Late Sri Subhash Chowdhury in Kolkata, and Late Sri Tarit Chowdhury in Bangalore. She has also done a special course in Nazrulgeeti conducted by Late Smt Purabi Dutta, and in Hindustani Classical music from Late Sri Debi Ranjan Banerjee. She has been performing as “B High” Rabindrasangeet artist of All India Radio since 1970 and Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata from 1990. She has performed in various functions in Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and several times at “Jorasanko Thakur Bari.” She has also performed in special programmes of Doordarshan Kendra (Mumbai) in 2005 and 2012. Her solo Rabindra Sangeet albums are: “Ogo Amar Chiro Achena” (1988) and “Shundarahreedi Ranjana” (1990).She has sung for TV serials: “Nachni” directed by Late Jochhon Dostidar, and “Bijoya”.
