South Korea's rival parties have failed to set a new date to vote on the government's 2019 budget plan.
The floor leaders of the three main political parties met on Monday in hopes of agreeing on a new date,... after they missed the December second deadline.
With deliberations incomplete...., the proposal was referred to the plenary session in its original form on December first -- as stipulated under the National Assembly Act.
Currently, representatives of the three main parties on the assembly's budget committee are continuing their deliberations.
However,... it's unclear when the bill will be ready,... given there are still areas of contention,... including... spending for job creation and inter-Korean projects.
Eyes are on whether the National Assembly Speaker will use his authority... to convene a plenary session today,... and introduce the budget bill in its original form,... while waiting for parties to complete their negotiations and draw up a new version.
However, the opposition is against the idea,... saying the plenary session should take place only when the parties are ready.
