A photo long believed to be of a teenage Vincent van Gogh is actually one of his brother, Theo.
A photo long believed to be of a teenage Vincent van Gogh is actually one of his brother, Theo, reports the New York Times. That determination was made recently by experts at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and after years of investigative work, notes the Guardian. The discovery brings the number of known photos of Vincent van Gogh down to just one, with the remaining image being of the artist at the age of 19. Willem van Gogh, the great-grandson of Theo, noted: "It is essential that Vincent van Gogh's legacy is correctly passed on and preserved and this research makes a significant contribution to such efforts."
