청와대 "국가안보실 사칭 이메일 발송 의혹, 경찰에 수사 의뢰"
The Cheongwadae requested a police investigation into an e-mail sent by someone impersonating the National Security office... to experts on foreign affairs.
The e-mail contained a document purporting to show the presidential office admiting to a growing divide between Seoul and Washington over North Korea's denuclearization.
The Blue House denounced the document, which lacked even the most basic official security features, but whose claims nevertheless made it into the news.
"Cheong Wa Dae believes this is more than just a false report. In fact, it's so malicious that it's almost impossible to find a precedent for it in media history."
Just yesterday, a local media report used a photo of the document.
It's authenticity was immediately challenged by the top office.
Cheongwadae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom said the document is harmful to the country and its relationship with the U.S.
He added the journalists behind the report will also be held responsible for not doing the bare minimum fact-check.
