Protesters gathered at the Russian embassy in Kiev on Monday, November 26 after the two countries’ vessels faced off near the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
In the video, protesters can be seen piling tiles outside the embassy and setting up on fire as flares lit up the sky. Scuffles break out towards the end of the clip.
The violence comes after Russian military seized three Ukrainian ships sailing in the Sea of Azov, off Crimea. As tensions escalated around the situation in the Kerch Strait, Russia called an emergency UN Security Council meeting, and Ukraine instituted martial law in several regions (mostly those bordering Russia) for a period of 30 days.
