Thai people today (November 22) took part in the annual Loi Krathong festival in which floating baskets lit with candles are placed in rivers and lakes across the country.
The event is one of the most picturesque in the year and millions of locals as well as tourists take part in it. The event occurs during the full moon on the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar, changing the date every year.
It is believed that by paying respect to the goddess of water, it brings good luck for the year ahead.
The festival has many counterpart festivals across southeast Asia, and often incorporate fireworks, floating paper lanterns and large festival rafts.
The footage was filmed in the Lumpini Park in downtown Bangkok.
