Chhath puja fast, also called Surya Shashti . The Chhath Puja is celebrated on the occasion of the Shukla party of Kartik month. The festival of Chhath Puja is celebrated for four days. छठ पूजा व्रत, जिसे सूर्य षष्टी भी कहा जाता है. छठ पूजा कार्तिक माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की षष्टी को मनाई जाती है. छठ पूजा का पर्व चार दिनों तक मनाया जाता है. यह पर्व चतुर्थी से सप्तमी तक चलता है.इस व्रत में माता छठी की पूजा की जाती है. वेदों के अनुसार भगवान सूर्य देव की पत्नी उषा (छठी मैया ) की पूजा की जाती है . इस दिन छठी माता की पूजा की जाती हैं और छठी माता बच्चों की रक्षा करती हैं. इसे संतान प्राप्ति की इच्छा से किया जाता है.
