South Korea's presidential office has appointed a new head of the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee, the group of officials working on building economic ties between the two Koreas and Eurasia.
The committee's new chief is Kwon Goo-hoon, who at Goldman Sachs is the co-head of Korea research and a senior Asia economist.
While leading the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee, he will continue in his role at Goldman Sachs.
The committee had been without a leader since July when lawmaker Song Young-gil left the post to pursue the leadership of the Democratic Party.
