Sues Former Doctor
Over Frontman's Suicide The grunge music
pioneer died by
suicide in May of 2017. The suit claims that Dr. Robert
Koblin "negligently and repeatedly"
prescribed "dangerous mind-
altering controlled substances." The family says
the prescriptions
impaired Cornell, and "caused him to engage in
dangerous impulsive behaviors
that he was unable to control." During the
final 20 months
of Cornell's life, Also known as Ativan,
it's used to treat anxiety by
working on the central nervous
system to produce a calming effect. The suit claims that Koblin
didn't perform any kind of
assessment on Cornell
before prescribing the drug. An attorney for Koblin
said his treatment "was
within the standard of care."
