President Trump on Friday warned Iran about sanctions in a tweet.
President Trump on Friday used a 'Game of Thrones' reference to warn Iran about sanctions.
The president's tweet "shows a photo of Trump with the words 'Sanctions are Coming, November 5,' written in the font used in 'Game of Thrones,'" reports Business Insider.
A White House statement provided more details, noting that the current administration is reimposing all sanctions that were lifted by former President Obama under the Iran nuclear deal.
"Together with the unprecedented sanctions actions taken by the Trump Administration, this will be the toughest sanctions regime ever imposed on Iran," the statement added. "Sanctions will target critical sectors of Iran's economy, such as its energy, shipping, shipbuilding, and financial sectors."
Back in May, Trump announced that the U.S. would withdraw from the Iran deal.
"At the point when the United States had maximum leverage, this disastrous deal gave this regime — and it's a regime of great terror — many billions of dollars, some of it in actual cash — a great embarrassment to me as a citizen and to all citizens of the United States," Trump said during the announcement.
