According to Reuters, actress Kerry Washington is returning to Broadway.
Washington is best known for her Emmy-nominated role on the TV drama “Scandal.”
But this week she once again graces the Broadway stage in the new play “American Son.”
The play is a four-character story set in a Florida police station.
It tells of a mother and father who are seeking information about their missing son.
It was written by Christopher Demos-Brown, a trial attorney in Southern Florida.
Brown said the play's emotional impetus came from police shootings of African-Americans.
The 90-minute production of “American Son” opens on Sunday for a limited engagement.
Washington previously appeared on Broadway in 2009 in David Mamet's play “Race.”
