Devotees climbed the sacred Pathinettam Padi to enter the Sabarimala temple to offer prayers. Earlier today, the gates of the temple were opened to allow devotees to worship Lord Ayappa. The temple gates were opened for the first time after the Supreme Court gave a verdict allowing entry of women of the age group of 10-50 in the temple. Police guarded the temple amidst protest over entry of women in the temple.
