Ukranian nationalists march in Kiev to honour WWII-ear paramilitary group

Thousands of Ukrainian nationalist marched through Kiev on Sunday in an annual commemoration of the formation of the World War II-era Ukranian Insurgent Army, a paramilitary group that fought against the Soviet army.

Footage shows demonstrators lighting colourful flares and shouting slogans such as "Ukraine back to Ukrainians” amid a strong police presence.

Accordingly to Russian media, more than 5,000 Ukrainians attended the protest to express their disagreement with Russian policies.

On the same day, riot police intervened to stop some protesters from destroying a Soviet-era monument to Nikolai Vatutin.
