Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM), the world’s largest restaurant company with nearly 35,000 KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silver’s and A&W Restaurants, will make a major commitment at the upcoming Clinton Global Initiative to bolster awareness of global hunger, spur volunteerism and raise funds to benefit the United Nation’s World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s frontline organization in the fight against hunger. In 2007, Yum!’s inaugural World Hunger Relief campaign became the world’s largest private-public effort to fight hunger by raising $16 million USD for WFP and other hunger relief organizations in one week. Those funds provided the WFP unrestricted funds to combat hunger globally. This year, Yum! will expand its efforts beyond a week to a full month, and bolster its campaign as the hunger crisis reaches epic proportions. Global superstar Mariah Carey will be featured in World Hunger Relief restaurant posters as Hunger Ambassador. Customers who donate to the campaign at Yum!’s participating restaurants around the globe will receive a free download of her song, “Love Story” via www.fromhungertohope.com, the campaign website. Yum! will donate money for every download. For more information on this story and others, visit www.newsinfusion.com
