Good morning. South Korea is on alert as Typhoon Kong-rey is forecast to sweep the Korean Peninsula, affecting Jeju Island and the southern regions from tonight. The typhoon will pass close to Okinawa in Japan on Thursday night but it could change course and head for the Korean Peninsula. People are advised to stay on high alert.

Jeju and the southern regions will be hit by torrential rainfall until Saturday, up to 700 millimeters of rain will fall on the island. Seoul will see heavy showers from Friday evening all through Saturday.

Today, though, is forecast to be another fine autumn day for most parts with some cloud coverage while Jeju and Busan will start to see showers from the evening.

Highs will be in the mid-twenties leading to wide gaps in most regions, Seoul and Daejeon will reach 25 degrees Celsius.

The entire nation will be affected by Typhoon Kong-rey into Saturday, Sunday is forecast to be dry and bright but expect cooler temperatures to set in.
