According to Business Insider, a Macy's store at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria, Virginia closed in January 2017 as did the mall itself. Over a year later, a homeless shelter that needed a temporary home constructed a temporary shelter within the old Macy's store. The Carpenter's Shelter officially moved into the old Macy's store in June.
