अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ एशिया कप के सुपर फोर मुकाबले में भारतीय टीम की कप्तानी करने उतरे महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने इस मैच में रिकॉर्ड बनाया। 200 वनडे मैच में कप्तानी करने वाले धोनी भारत के पहले और दुनिया के तीसरे खिलाड़ी बने। यह मुकाबला बेनतीजा रहा और धोनी की कप्तानी में भारतीय टीम का यह पांचवां टाई मैच था। महेंद्र सिंह धोनी ने अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ रोहित शर्मा को आराम दिए जाने के बाद टीम की कप्तानी का जिम्मा संभाला। बतौर कप्तान यह उनके वनडे करियर का 200वां मैच था।
