Nevada's government employees are selling their unused paid time off at retirement. Hundreds of departing employees received more than $100,000 for their banked sick and vacation time since 2013. Former Henderson City Manager Mark Calhoun got nearly $475,000 when he retired. Some governments offset costs by delaying hiring new workers. Local governments in Clark and Washoe counties owe employees more than $600 million for unused time off.
