정상들간 담판도 무효…브렉시트 놓고 영국-EU 간격 여전
(Turning to Brexit now….)The head of the European Council has slammed British Prime Minister Theresa May's proposed new economic partnership with the EU.
Donald Tusk said the plan risked undermining the bloc's single market.
"Everybody shared the view that while there are positive elements in the Chequers proposal, the suggested framework for economic cooperation will not work, not least because it risks undermining the single market……The moment of truth for Brexit negotiations will be the October European Council."
He was speaking at the end of an EU summit in the Austrian city of Salzburg, where Brexit was high on the agenda.
His sentiment was shared by many leaders from bloc, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron unleashed a particularly harsh attack against Brexit campaigners, calling them liars and unwilling to see their Brexit project through.
