Five baby squirrels who were tangled together by their tails were recently freed from one another by the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Squirrel moms are usually able to take care of their pups on their own, but sometimes the new families need a little help. Five baby squirrels who were tangled together by their tails were recently freed from one another by the Wisconsin Humane Society.  The society reported via Facebook on Friday that "a caring finder contained the squirrels and called…for help." "You can imagine how wiggly and unruly (and nippy!) this frightened, distressed ball of squirrelly energy was, so our first step was to anesthetize all five of them at the same time," the animal rescue organization also noted. "With that accomplished, we began working on unraveling the…knot of tightly tangled tails and nest material." Though difficult, the mission was a success and, according to the Wisconsin Humane Society, "Now, one day later, they are all bright-eyed, and three of the five are 'bushy-tailed.'"
