High winds and heavy rain lashed Hong Kong on Sunday, September 16, as Typhoon Mangkhut approached.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued a number 10 signal as the typhoon threatened to make landfall.

These videos were filmed in the coastal village of Heng Fa Chuen on Sunday morning as the storm approached.

Mangkhut, reported to be the biggest storm in the world so far in 2018, was forecast to hit Hong Kong and southern China on Sunday afternoon, after wreaking havoc in the Philippines.

In the Philippines, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said an estimated 5.2 million people were within 77 miles of the projected path of Mangkhut. Credit: blockchainmitv via Storyful
