FDA and USDA to Debate Future of
Lab-Grown Meat The two organizations will host a public meeting
on the matter. The gathering will address public concerns about cell-cultured
meat products and how it will fit into our current food system. This includes potential hazards, production and regulation. It is still up for debate whether or not lab-grown meat will actually be
called meat. If the substance is called meat, it’ll be regulated by the USDA. If it is unable to be considered meat, it’ll be watched over by the FDA. The meeting is set for October 23 and October 24.
