U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently announced the discovery of fifty-five illegal aliens who were being transported in a tractor-trailer where conditions were "potentially lethal." The trailer, which was being used illegally to transport those inside across the border, was searched at a border patrol checkpoint north of Laredo, Texas. "The conditions inside the trailer were potentially lethal with an internal temperature of nearly 100 degrees and limited airflow," according to a press release by the agency. "The 55 subjects were found sweating profusely and were immediately evaluated by an Emergency Medical Technician." It was also learned that the individuals were from a variety of Central and South American countries. The trailer was seized and the driver, described as a U.S. citizen, was arrested.
