On 13th July 2018, hundreds of students at West Papua's Cenderawasih University (UNCEN), rallied to declare together their shared aspirations for West Papua's self-determination and freedom.

Students also declared that they will NOT be participating in Indonesia's independence day celebrations on 17th August as Indonesia's presence in West Papua is illegal under international law.
