Flooding was the “major concern” on August 23, the National Weather Service said, as Hurricane Lane continued to move slowly northwards towards Hawaii.
A number of rescues were reported locally as water levels rose amid the torrential rain. A flash flood warning for Hawaii’s Big Island was to remain in place until the morning of August 24.
