A Seoul appeals court has handed out more punishment to the ousted President Park Geun-hye Friday morning,.... increasing her fine and the time she spends behind bars.
The Seoul High Court sentenced her to 25 years in jail.... and nearly 18 million U.S. dollars in fines,... instead of the original sentencing of 24 years and 16 million dollars handed out by a lower court in April.
The verdict comes after the appeals court found her guilty of unlawful solicitation for donations to Samsung.
The 66-year-old was indicted for influence-peddling and bribery, demanding millions of dollars from corporations, in collusion with her longtime confidante, Choi Soon-sil.
This led the Constitutional Court to remove Park from office in March 2017.
