Thirty-eight girls stranded for several days by extreme flooding in their school dormitory in Chengannur, India, were rescued on August 18 by helicopters from the Indian Air Force, according to a Defense Ministry spokesperson.
The girls were trapped on the upper levels of the building without food, water, or facilities, according to news reports.
