Google pays tribute to Indian author Ismat Chughtai on her 107th birthday. Chughtai is popularly known as the 'grand dame' of Urdu fiction. Her works are celebrated and censored for its honest depiction of women’s lives. Chugtai was born in Uttar Pradesh’s Budan in 1911. Some of her works include Lihaaf, Sheesha, Sone Ki Chidiya , Lala Rukh Chugtai and Baharen Phir Bhi Ayengi. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 f or her writings on sexuality, femininity and class conflicts.
