A mining town in New South Wales’ far west has been invaded by mobs of emus in search of food and water as the drought ravaging the state continues to intensify.In this video, taken by David Bradbury from his car in June, a lone emu can be seen wandering down a suburban street in Broken Hill.He told Storyful the drought was driving a lot of wildlife into urban areas.In other regions of the state, kangaroo invasions have plagued urban areas and competed with domestic livestock for limited resources, spurring the government to relax laws around kangaroo culling.ABC reported the emus that have overtaken Broken Hill had resulted in a huge number of callouts for local wildlife groups, as many birds were injured in car accidents and even dog attacks.A mob of emus even gatecrashed a rugby match in early August, running onto the field mid-game.
