The Eagles Now Have History's
Best-Selling Album The Eagles' greatest hits record has topped Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' to become history's best-selling album. The Recording Industry Association of America says the Eagles' 1976 album — 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975' — is certified 38x platinum. This means sales and streams of the
album have reached
38 million copies. Jackson's 'Thriller,' which is
33x platinum, has now been moved to
second place. The last time RIAA tallied sales for the Eagles' greatest hits album was in 2006, when it was 29x platinum. In addition, another Eagles album — 1977's 'Hotel California' — is now 26x platinum, making it the
third best-selling album of
all-time.
