Thick smog from the wildfires burning in British Columbia engulfed the city of Kelowna on August 19.

At least 16 flights were canceled or delayed Sunday at Kelowna International Airport due to low visibility conditions related to wildfires.

On Sunday, the air quality index in Castlegar, Kamloops, Prince George, Quesnel, Whistler and Williams Lake was upgraded to a “very high” health-risk. Environment Canada said air quality improvements were not expected until there is a “significant change” in the weather patterns. Credit: ManyaK10 via Storyful
