In 1987, Aretha Franklin made history as the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
As a result, she set the stage for generations of female artists, specifically black women artists.
Of the 55 other legendary women performers have walked in her stead, more than half have been black.
As of 2018, 32 of the 56 female Hall of Famers are black women, reports CNN.com.
Aretha Franklin passed away after battling with pancreatic cancer.
