Every episode of The View can get emotionally heated, but it’s usually not this bittersweet! On Thursday, August 2, co-host Sara Haines was all tears on her last day on the show. Watch the clip above to see her sad goodbye.
Sara has been a cohost for two seasons and she couldn’t help crying as she signed off for the last time.
She’s also worked on Good Morning America through those two seasons. Sara’s actually leaving the women’s talk show to host a brand-new hour of GMA with Michael Strahan. The View shared photos of her from her two-year tenure on Instagram.
“It has been an honor, a privilege and an absolute dream to work here at this show. From the many people that you guys will never see behind the cameras who have become lifelong friends — they’re not going anywhere — to dear friends I have made at this table who are absolutely TV gold,” she said through tears.
“You guys are strong, empowered, opinionated women and for anyone who’s ever been in a sport, you know the best team members are the ones who lift you up and make you better and you guys did that for me,” she continued. “I love this view and I love all of you.”
Most of the other hosts were wiping away their own tears, but not Joy Behar and Meghan McCain. “The two wicked witches, we don’t cry,” Joy joked during the emotional exchange.
Meghan called Sara an “absolute pleasure.”
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg let Sara have the honors of closing the show with its catchphrase: “Have a great day everyone and take a little time to enjoy The View.”
