China's space agency's upcoming Chang'e-4 mission aims to launch two robots to the far side of the moon.
The new mission is the fourth in China's ongoing lunar exploration program.
China hopes to one day lead to a crewed lunar landing.
Chinese officials said Wednesday that Chang'e-4 will rocket toward the moon in December.
The landing site for Chang'e-4 is slated to be the moon's Von Kármán crater near the south pole.
